Chef Antonia Lofaso's culinary creations are an invitation to explore the complexities of her inner world. It is her food that inspires curiosity. This was the result when she left the Long Island suburbs and entered the rich cultural landscape and rich culture of Los Angeles. Her belief that cavatelli and carnitas can co-exist with ease on the same plate conveys a sensibility which is constantly developing. Scopa Italian Roots, which Lofaso established in 2013, was a huge success because it was in the spirit of her Italian tradition. Lofaso's classic Italian version is regarded as to be one of Los Angeles' most captivating dining establishments. The food at Lofaso is always authentic warm, welcoming and satisfying. Lofaso worked as an apprentice for chefs, learning the techniques they taught and taking chances. She was not afraid to try to learn to trust her intuition. She soon rose to the ranks of Wolfgang's Spago and went into working closely with famous chefs in different Los Angeles kitchens. Lofaso, Sal Aurora, and Mario Guddemi partnered to open Black Market Liquor Bar Studio City in 2011. Lofaso's house was discovered within Black Market Liquor Bar and her business relationships. The collaboration could provide creativity and freedom Lofaso desired. Black Market is not constrained by any one direction. And this is exactly what we want. The menu could begin with potato chips dill with shishito chillies, then proceed to Korean Chicken and meatballs. The key ingredient that binds this assortment of flavours is Antonia. Lofaso's success has been measured by her capacity to stay self-assured while in tune with her audience. She has been a part of a variety of television shows like Top Chef Chicago, Top Chef: All Stars and Cutthroat Kitchen Man vs. Child on The Food Network and ABC's Real O'neals. Her talents have continued to be showcased as a judge for the CNBC show Restaurant Startup. In 2012, Lofaso joined with Penguin to publish the Busy Mom's Cookbook 100 recipes for quick Delicious homemade Meals and tells the story of the challenges she encountered while studying at the elite French Culinary Institute, and while raising her daughter Xea. Lofaso believes that all her success is due to the enthusiasm she holds for her kitchen. In this spirit that Lofaso continues to keep a watchful eye on developments in the field.
